Mackenzie College students are addicted to sports all year round and take part in a great range of local and South Island competitions. The school has strong relationships with local clubs, so that all of the traditional sports are covered, plus some that you would not expect to find at most schools.

Swimming, tennis, mountain-biking and athletics are popular in the summer, as well as bowls, with a small and successful group leading the way in South Canterbury. 2011 Saw the Mountain Biking Squad win the South Island Secondary Schools Championship.

Snow sports in winter offer a special opportunity for students to ski and snowboard as a school sport on a Wednesday afternoon, receiving tuition for an hour and a half before free-skiing around Mt Dobson.

Our skiers and boarders were successful at this year’s regional and South Island competitions. Netball, rugby, hockey, basketball, skiing and soccer have seen Mackenzie College students represent their region in South Island tournaments.
